Give your local bats a safe place to roost by building your own bat house! Join bat biologist and educator Maria Armour for a hands-on workshop where you’ll construct a bat house while learning fascinating facts about bats in Massachusetts and around the world. No woodworking experience is required, and all materials and instructions will be provided. The registration fee includes everything you’ll need to build one single-chamber bat house, which can provide summer shelter for a small colony of local bats.

In this class students will be introduced to the printmaking process of Linocut. The class will cover the techniques in carving linoleum, composition, ink mixing, and printing.  At your own pace, participants will learn how to create a design and carve it in linoleum using carving tools.  You will learn how to ink and print their linoleum blocks by hand.  In a relaxed and welcoming environment, participants will create many beautiful prints of their own as well as collaborate with others.  This class is suitable for beginners and can be adjusted for all levels of experience.  This class is taught by Brooke Lambert, who is a professional printmaker and painter.

Celebrate the beauty of autumn by creating a one-of-a-kind fall seascape wreath on an 8" x 10" glass frame.  Using sea glass in rich greens, warm browns, and amber tones, along with shells, starfish and other coastal treasures, you will design your own wreath directly on the glass.   Once your design is complete, we'll seal everything with resin, giving your artwork a beautiful, glossy finish.
No experience is necessary, and you will be guided step by step through the entire process by local artist, Julie Gordon.  Your finished seascape wreath can be hung on a wall or placed in a window where the light can shine through the seas glass.  It's the perfect blend of coastal charm and cozy fall color and a beautiful addition to  your autumn decor.

Step into the bloody side of practical effects with Dead Puppy Studios for a hands-on Horror SPFX Workshop at The Satanic Temple’s Salem Art Gallery.

Led by the FX artist behind the practical effects for Satanic Planet’s latest music video, this 18+ workshop will introduce you to the techniques used to create convincing bruises, cuts, wounds, blood effects, and other on-skin horror FX. You’ll learn how to layer color, texture, liquid latex, and blood to transform ordinary skin into something that looks like it had a very bad night.

No prior makeup or special effects experience is required. Whether you’re a horror fan, Halloween obsessive, aspiring FX artist, performer, photographer, or scare actor looking to make your character a little more disturbing, this workshop is designed to give you practical techniques you can recreate on your own.

Your ticket includes a take-home Horror FX Kit with a bruise wheel, liquid latex, blood, and applicators so the carnage doesn’t have to end when the class does. Attendees will also receive 10% off FX makeup supplies at The Magic Parlor.

Community members are invited to learn and play the timeless tile game of Riichi (Japanese style) Mahjong from an experienced tournament player.  All supplies and teaching materials provided free of charge by the Riichi Mahjong Society of Massachusetts.  This is a program for all experience levels.

Join local fitness instructor, Beth Schultz for an early evening class.  This class will be comprised of traditional yoga poses and challenging mat work.

Ages: 18+

     Session One:  September 21st - October 26th (no class on 10/12)
     Session Two:  November 9th- December 7th         Time: 5:00-6:00pm
Price: $45.00 for the 5 week session, or a nightly drop in rate of $10.00 per night

Under the guidance of local fitness instructor Beth Schultz, participants will work through a guided circuit of  strength and body weight work.   Weights will be used for strength and planks, crunches and squats will be used for the body weight.  All three classes offered this fall will be for all for both advanced and beginners.  Beth will modify exercises as needed.  Due to the popularity of this program, you are only allowed to register for one class each session.
This class will be limited to 8 participants.
