Salem State students Max Beauregard and Jacqueline Hernandez will join them. Admission is free, although goodwill donations at the door are welcome.

Hidden beyond the shelves of The Lost Library, an intimate Black Box theater comes alive for one night only with Bars After Dark — an immersive Halloween-season rap showcase in the heart of downtown Salem.

Step inside, leave the October crowds behind, and enter a dark underground world of live music, heavy beats, eerie projections, and some of the area’s rising hip-hop talent. With performers taking the mic throughout the night and visuals surrounding the entire room, this isn’t your typical concert — it’s a hidden Salem nightlife experience made for Halloween season.

Gulu favorites, Couple of Wanderers returns! They are Faith Kelly and Caswyn Moon, two Catskills songwriters who have made the road a big part of their music. After meeting at an open mic, the pair began crisscrossing the country together, playing original songs in venues and small towns all along the way. Caswyn brings melodic, punk-tinged Americana with old-country roots, often backed by Faith on Moog synthesizer, before Faith takes over with her own wonderfully strange blend of spacey folk rock ’n’ roll and Appalachian sounds. Expect guitars, synths, storytelling, a little psychedelia, and the occasional washboard or kazoo. Come catch these two wandering songwriters as their travels bring them back through Salem and the Gulu-Gulu stage. No cover!!

Chelsea Berry is a Maine-based indie singer songwriter known for her powerhouse vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and commanding stage presence. Acclaimed artist Susan Werner once dubbed her “the Pink of folk music”—a nod to Berry’s genre-blending style, emotional depth, and vibrant live energy.

Over a 25-year career that includes thirteen original albums, Berry has built a loyal following all over the country. This October, she returns to her former home on Cape Ann to celebrate the release of her newest album, Peace Soldier. Recorded with engineer and co-producer Rich Lamb in Queens NYC, with overdubs by engineer Warren Babson at Bang-A-Song Studios in Gloucester, Peace Soldier is a collaborative, cinematic, rock-meets-musical-theater production built on empathy, connection, compassion, and community, while showcasing Berry’s powerful and dynamic vocals, innovative spirit, and penchant for bringing people together.

The songs of Peace Soldier and the message they carry will resonate with listeners in a vastly deep and meaningful way. In this release performance, the audience can expect to be confronted with questions, ideas, and collaborative insights centered on humanity, common ground, war, death, love, and the desire for peace. These themes are set within a story arc of songs supported by far more dynamic and complex arrangements than any in Berry's past works. This special release performance will feature her full band plus a cast of guest vocalists.

Berry has appeared in Boston publications such as The Noise and Northshore Magazine, and is regularly featured on Sirius XM as well as local radio stations across the country. Known for drawing audiences in “like moths to a flame,” Berry continues to be a favorite among listening rooms nationwide.

A veteran of the road, Berry has toured coast to coast and recorded albums in Boston, New York, Nashville, and Denver. She has shared the stage with legendary artists such as Livingston Taylor, Chris Smither, Mavis Staples, Chris Isaak, Shawn Colvin, and many more.

Originally from Alaska, Chelsea now makes her home just north of Acadia National Park in coastal Maine.

Boston music legend Rick Berlin brings the Nickel & Dime Band back to the Gulu-Gulu stage for a big, night of rock & roll. A fixture of the Boston scene since the ’70s, Berlin first made his mark fronting Orchestra Luna and later Berlin Airlift, building a decades-long reputation for theatrical performances, sharp storytelling, and songs that refuse to stay in one genre.His Nickel & Dime Band carries that history forward with a mix of rock, punk, funk, Americana, and plenty of unexpected turns. Along the way they’ve shared stages with Dr. Dog and the Violent Femmes, while Berlin’s career has crossed paths with everyone from Roxy Music and the J. Geils Band to the early Boston punk scene.

Young musicians from Marblehead return for their second show at Couch Dog.

Salem’s own Clay Pigeons return to the Gulu-Gulu stage with their rowdy mix of bluegrass, honky-tonk, folk, and old-school country. With fiddle, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, guitar, and plenty of harmonies, Clay Pigeons turn the people, places, oddballs, and seaside stories of New England into songs that are funny, heartfelt, and built for a good time. Local through and through, the band sings about everything from Salem witches and Beverly rats to lobster rolls, mermaids, neighbors, friends, and down-and-outers. Expect original songs, familiar favorites, and a lively night of homegrown New England string music from these Salem legends. No cover!!

Sink your fangs into Halloween with Arpeggione Ensemble’s live performance of the score for Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror. In the 1920s, silent films weren’t silent: They were accompanied by a live piano player, organist or full orchestra. Experience this classic 1922 horror movie with Arpeggione performing on historical instruments from the early 20th century, including harmonium, flute, clarinet and strings.

From the eerily corpse-like appearance of Max Schreck as Count Orlok to climactic shot of a shadow on a staircase, Nosferatu set the standard for modern horror movies and created the vampire movie as we know it. As the earliest film adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Nosferatu is the source of several of the most enduring aspects of modern-day vampire lore.

Fans of horror, music enthusiasts, vintage aficionados… enter if you dare to see and hear Nosferatu as it would have sounded when it was first screened!

Join us between the 1 pm and 7 pm screenings for a talk with the performers about the cultural impact, artistic innovations and enduring legacy of Nosferatu.

Every Friday night, step inside Salem’s two premier haunted houses for an after-hours experience filled with pulsing music, eerie lighting, fog, Halloween atmosphere, and a live DJ spinning from inside the haunt.

Explore the village, dance among the monsters, discover photo ops, and experience the attraction in a completely different way as the entire haunted house transforms into a Halloween party.

This isn’t your typical nightclub and it definitely isn’t your typical haunted house.

A Salem State alum and winner of WUMB’s Boston Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, Molly is a singer-songwriter whose music draws from folk, bluegrass, Celtic traditions, and classic balladry, plus more. Molly has a great repertoire. Her songs pair haunting melodies and poetic storytelling with a clear, distinctive voice and acoustic instrumentation.
