In celebration of Salem 400+, our 2026 poster recognizes Salem’s precolonial history and the people of Naumkeag by highlighting produce that they may have used and cultivated. The team at Mack Park Farm, Salem’s unique municipal food farm, has worked closely with Thomas Green of the Massachusett Tribe to identify varieties that may have been grown or traded by the Indigenous people who lived here.

Featured on this year’s poster are several special varieties that you’ll be able to find planted at Mack Park Farm this year – Boston Marrow Squash, Yellow Crookneck Squash, Otto File Flint Corn, and Succotash Beans.

The Salem Farmers’ Market dates back to 1634. With its peak around 1930, an estimated 10,000 people visited the market on a single Saturday. And you thought parking was tough today!

Join Crystal of Health Goth Yoga for an hour of an all levels yoga to the sounds of New Wave, Dark Wave + Post-Punk! Then stay and mingle.

We’ll flow to a curated playlist to the sound of Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Boy Harsher and other goth favorites! No props will be needed except a mat. It will start slow and build. Expect to sweat a little, deeply stretch and surrender into a peaceful corpse pose.

In celebration of Salem 400+, our 2026 poster recognizes Salem’s precolonial history and the people of Naumkeag by highlighting produce that they may have used and cultivated. The team at Mack Park Farm, Salem’s unique municipal food farm, has worked closely with Thomas Green of the Massachusett Tribe to identify varieties that may have been grown or traded by the Indigenous people who lived here.

Featured on this year’s poster are several special varieties that you’ll be able to find planted at Mack Park Farm this year – Boston Marrow Squash, Yellow Crookneck Squash, Otto File Flint Corn, and Succotash Beans.

Michael Rutstein: After drafting and then reluctantly abandoning a business plan to create a replica of Hannah, Rutstein commissioned local boatbuilder Harold Burnham to build a representation of the 1812 Salem privateer FAME in 2003. For 23 seasons, FAME sailed out of Pickering Wharf in Salem to critical and popular acclaim. In April 2026, FAME was sold to the Liberty Fleet of Tall Ships in Boston.

“Monsters & Myths” is an open exhibition to members and non-members at our Pickering Wharf gallery to celebrate Salem’s spooky season.

We’ve invited artists to explore the creatures, legends, and stories that haunt our imaginations. From ancient folklore and supernatural beings to modern-day fears and personal phantoms, this show celebrates the power of myth and mystery in all its forms.

This fall exhibition allows artists to delve into the realm of the eerie and the extraordinary, celebrating the rich tapestry of folklore, legends, and the fantastical creatures that haunt our imaginations. As Salem is renowned for its history of witchcraft and supernatural tales, we have encouraged artists to explore their interpretations of monsters and myths, whether they be drawn from personal experiences, cultural stories, or classic literature. "Myths & Monsters" showcases a unique vision of the mysterious and the macabre.

In celebration of Salem 400+, our 2026 poster recognizes Salem’s precolonial history and the people of Naumkeag by highlighting produce that they may have used and cultivated. The team at Mack Park Farm, Salem’s unique municipal food farm, has worked closely with Thomas Green of the Massachusett Tribe to identify varieties that may have been grown or traded by the Indigenous people who lived here.

Featured on this year’s poster are several special varieties that you’ll be able to find planted at Mack Park Farm this year – Boston Marrow Squash, Yellow Crookneck Squash, Otto File Flint Corn, and Succotash Beans.

The Salem Farmers’ Market dates back to 1634. With its peak around 1930, an estimated 10,000 people visited the market on a single Saturday. And you thought parking was tough today!

Under the guidance of local fitness instructor Beth Schultz, participants will work through a guided circuit of  strength and body weight work.   Weights will be used for strength and planks, crunches and squats will be used for the body weight.  All three classes offered this fall will be for all for both advanced and beginners.  Beth will modify exercises as needed.  Due to the popularity of this program, you are only allowed to register for one class each session.

Learn about the establishment of American Admiralty Law in Salem and Boston following the American Revolution, tracing how early 19th-century maritime conflicts in these port cities shaped the development of American jurisprudence. The lecture will examine how disputes over cargo, salvage, and prize cases during the period tested and refined the young nation’s legal system. Judge Young will also discuss the pivotal role played by Judge John Davis in establishing practical precedents for handling these cases — precedents that would go on to influence the broader framework of American admiralty law.

About the Speaker:
The Honorable William G. Young has served as a Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts since 1985, following eight years on the Massachusetts Superior Court. A graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, he served as a U.S. Army officer before beginning his legal career as law clerk to Chief Justice Raymond S. Wilkins of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He later practiced law with Bingham, Dana & Gould and served as Special Assistant Attorney General and Chief Counsel to Governor Francis W. Sargent. An acclaimed teacher of evidence and trial advocacy, Judge Young has taught at Harvard, Boston College, and Boston University. Two and a half centuries of America are commemorated by guitarist Aaron Larget-Caplan in Guitar America 250 – Revolutionaries and Rockstars an exploration of the United States’ musical history. From The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful to Paul Simon’s America and Eddie Van Halen’s 316, Larget-Caplan journeys through the soundscapes of a diverse nation. The evening includes music and texts by abolitionists, immigrants, suffragettes, revolutionaries and rockstars with spoken word provided by special guest, poet Richard Hoffman.

Admission is free. The Recital Hall is located at 71 Loring Avenue on the ground floor of the Classroom Building. Parking is available across the street.

Free music, no cover! Jordan Gravel and the Jorgan Trio bring the unmistakable sound of the Hammond organ to Gulu with a lively mix of jazz. Catch their regular residency and settle in for an evening of deep grooves, sharp improvisation, and seriously good live music. Always the last two Mondays of every month, sometimes more. In celebration of Salem 400+, our 2026 poster recognizes Salem’s precolonial history and the people of Naumkeag by highlighting produce that they may have used and cultivated. The team at Mack Park Farm, Salem’s unique municipal food farm, has worked closely with Thomas Green of the Massachusett Tribe to identify varieties that may have been grown or traded by the Indigenous people who lived here.

Featured on this year’s poster are several special varieties that you’ll be able to find planted at Mack Park Farm this year – Boston Marrow Squash, Yellow Crookneck Squash, Otto File Flint Corn, and Succotash Beans.

The Salem Farmers’ Market dates back to 1634. With its peak around 1930, an estimated 10,000 people visited the market on a single Saturday. And you thought parking was tough today!

Under the guidance of local fitness instructor Beth Schultz, participants will work through a guided circuit of  strength and body weight work.   Weights will be used for strength and planks, crunches and squats will be used for the body weight.  All three classes offered this fall will be for all for both advanced and beginners.  Beth will modify exercises as needed.  Due to the popularity of this program, you are only allowed to register for one class each session.

The actors respond as Puritans, revealing much about the Puritan mind. Is Bridget Bishop capable of witchcraft? You decide.

New this year, History Alive has also created the immersive experience of No Ghosts at the Old Town Hall, a haunted scavenger hunt/reverse escape room/immersive theatre experience based on all the rumors of hauntings in this cherished 1816 building. Kid conceptualized and kid-friendly, (and more than a bit influenced by the constant parade of ghost tours outside our doors) this show has been centuries in the making. Get tickets to either show!

Come join Salem’s own ukulele club! Ukulele Magic is made up of a fun group of enthusiastic people who enjoy playing and singing music. We also perform for a variety of Salem community events. Ukulele Magic members play songs they like, often choosing new songs and bringing new music to share. They play a variety of music that ranges from a beginner to a moderate level. New beginner members will need to learn basic chords in order to participate successfully. Regular Drop-in Art Making is held in person Friday–Sunday and holiday Mondays in our Create Space studios. Friday art making is recommended for ages 10 and up, while weekend and holiday activities are suitable for ages 4 and up. Activities are created and led by PEM art educators.
