Send Salem Seniors some Thanksgiving Day cheer! 
Each year the Friends of the Salem Council on Aging provide Thanksgiving dinners to homebound Salem seniors.  We are asking the community to assist us in creating homemade cards to include with their meal. 

Please drop off cards to the Salem Community Life Center, 401 Bridge St. Cards can be dropped off Monday- Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm.

We are collecting cards until Friday, November 20th

Come sing and dance with MaryBeth Maes!  We'll use scarves, bubbles, musical instruments and more. Great for ages 2+ and their caregiver(s), but families with children of all ages are welcome!

Join Salem’s master storyteller, Nathaniel Hawthorne, for a frightful evening of thrills and chills! The famous author performs his most frightening tales, as well as the terrifying works of fellow writer, Edgar Allan Poe. Stories include The House of the Seven Gables, The Cask of Amontillado, Annabel Lee, Young Goodman Brown, The Raven, and more. Experience the greatest Gothic horror stories ever written, brought to life by one of the authors himself!

Appropriate for families with brave children 10 and up. Please note, this event takes place in our Visitor Center auditorium and does not include access to the Mansion. Tickets are $50 general admission, $40 for Gables members, and $10 for children under 5. Tickets are non-refundable.

Step into Salem, 1692, where the drinks are flowing, the rumors are spreading, and everyone is beginning to look a little suspicious.

Witches Amongst Us is an immersive, comical retelling of the Salem Witch Trials that puts you right in the middle of the hysteria. Through live performance, storytelling, music, audience interaction, and plenty of scandal, the evening unfolds around you as Salem’s townspeople gather for what begins as a lively candlelit celebration.

But in Salem, nothing stays innocent for long.

Whispers of witchcraft begin to circulate, neighbors turn against neighbors, questionable evidence comes to light, and accusations start flying across the room. Before the night is over, you may find yourself witnessing the madness—or becoming part of it.

Blending real history with theatrical comedy, Witches Among Us explores the gossip, fear, superstition, and absurdity that helped send Salem spiraling into one of the most infamous chapters in American history.

So grab a drink, choose your friends carefully, and keep an eye on the person sitting beside you.

The Salem State music faculty present their fall recital in a program that ranges from classical to jazz. Faculty performers include Jean Danton, Steve Lacey, Cyndi Napierkowski, Ashley Offret, Beverly Soll, Eileen Yarrison and Holly Zagaria. Salem State students Max Beauregard and Jacqueline Hernandez will join them. Admission is free, although goodwill donations at the door are welcome.

Gulu favorites, Couple of Wanderers returns! They are Faith Kelly and Caswyn Moon, two Catskills songwriters who have made the road a big part of their music. After meeting at an open mic, the pair began crisscrossing the country together, playing original songs in venues and small towns all along the way. Caswyn brings melodic, punk-tinged Americana with old-country roots, often backed by Faith on Moog synthesizer, before Faith takes over with her own wonderfully strange blend of spacey folk rock ’n’ roll and Appalachian sounds. Expect guitars, synths, storytelling, a little psychedelia, and the occasional washboard or kazoo. Come catch these two wandering songwriters as their travels bring them back through Salem and the Gulu-Gulu stage. No cover!!

With performers taking the mic throughout the night and visuals surrounding the entire room, this isn’t your typical concert — it’s a hidden Salem nightlife experience made for Halloween season.

At the direction of the City of Salem, all outdoor Haunted Happenings Marketplaces are canceled Saturday, September 26th, and Sunday, September 27th, 2026, due to weather.

Chelsea Berry is a Maine-based indie singer songwriter known for her powerhouse vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and commanding stage presence. Acclaimed artist Susan Werner once dubbed her “the Pink of folk music”—a nod to Berry’s genre-blending style, emotional depth, and vibrant live energy.

Over a 25-year career that includes thirteen original albums, Berry has built a loyal following all over the country. This October, she returns to her former home on Cape Ann to celebrate the release of her newest album, Peace Soldier. Recorded with engineer and co-producer Rich Lamb in Queens NYC, with overdubs by engineer Warren Babson at Bang-A-Song Studios in Gloucester, Peace Soldier is a collaborative, cinematic, rock-meets-musical-theater production built on empathy, connection, compassion, and community, while showcasing Berry’s powerful and dynamic vocals, innovative spirit, and penchant for bringing people together.

The songs of Peace Soldier and the message they carry will resonate with listeners in a vastly deep and meaningful way. In this release performance, the audience can expect to be confronted with questions, ideas, and collaborative insights centered on humanity, common ground, war, death, love, and the desire for peace. These themes are set within a story arc of songs supported by far more dynamic and complex arrangements than any in Berry's past works. This special release performance will feature her full band plus a cast of guest vocalists.

Berry has appeared in Boston publications such as The Noise and Northshore Magazine, and is regularly featured on Sirius XM as well as local radio stations across the country. Known for drawing audiences in “like moths to a flame,” Berry continues to be a favorite among listening rooms nationwide.

Travel Basketball Information

This year we are doing online registration for tryouts for a spot on one of our travel basketball teams.  You must attend a least one tryout but encourage you to attend both sessions.

Attending tryouts does not guarantee a spot on a team.**

Join Salem’s master storyteller, Nathaniel Hawthorne, for a frightful evening of thrills and chills! The famous author performs his most frightening tales, as well as the terrifying works of fellow writer, Edgar Allan Poe. Stories include The House of the Seven Gables, The Cask of Amontillado, Annabel Lee, Young Goodman Brown, The Raven, and more. Experience the greatest Gothic horror stories ever written, brought to life by one of the authors himself!

Appropriate for families with brave children 10 and up. Please note, this event takes place in our Visitor Center auditorium and does not include access to the Mansion. Tickets are $50 general admission, $40 for Gables members, and $10 for children under 5. Tickets are non-refundable.

Join educator, author, and former Paranormal Salem owner Kimberly Peterson for an intimate 90-minute indoor workshop exploring the tools, history, and lived experience behind paranormal investigation in Salem. Blending real investigative methods with intuitive development and mediumship, this hands-on experience includes intuitive exercises, a guided spirit communication circle, and the use of tools such as K2 meters and spirit boxes. The Salem Story Series returns to Gulu-Gulu Cafe & Bar on Tuesday, September 29 a 7pm. This is a monthly storytelling event held by The Salem Story Series that invites the community of Salem, MA, to gather together to hear—and tell—true life stories. All are welcome, especially the “amateurs.” Some of the best stories shared on stage come from people who’ve never spoken into a microphone. Each month is a new theme, and every storyteller gets 5 minutes on stage to share their true story. Checkout salemstoryseries.org for more info. $5 a the door helps the organizers to keep this event going monthly.

The coolest place to be on Tuesday night is Maxine Harrison’s Karaoke at Gulu-Gulu Cafe & Bar. No genres limited, skill doesn’t matter, sing from the stage or your chair with the wireless mics.
